Ranikhet, in the Almora district of Uttarakhand, is a small hill station town. Located at an altitude of 1,869 m above sea level, it offers stunning views, a pleasant climate, and natural wonders. It is surrounded by beautiful green forests of oak, cedar, and pine trees that offer spectacular views of the Himalayas. In Kumaoni, the town is also known as the Queen of Meadows. 

Ranikhet has a rich history and many historical sites such as Jura Devi Temple, Kali Devi Temple, and Chauvhatia Orchards, a canton city founded by the British in 1869. It is also known for its many tourist spots. People also come here to enjoy the natural beauty and peaceful environment. 

Trekking, camping and bird watching are some of the most popular activities. Honeymooners and those looking for a romantic gateway are also drawn to the city. 

BEST TIME TO VISIT

  • March to June and September to November are the best times to visit Ranikhet. The weather during this period is pleasant and suitable for outdoor activities and travel. The spring season (March to June) is a great time for nature lovers as the trees are in bloom.

    Autumn (September to November) Autumn is one of the most beautiful times of the year when the hills are dyed in vibrant reds, oranges, and yellows.

    However, it is important to note that the area receives heavy rainfall during its monsoon season, which lasts from July to August, and landslides and road closures may prevent easy access to the town. So it is better not to come during the monsoon season. Although Ranikhet is a year-round destination with mild temperatures. Directions from big cities 

      

HOW TO REACH FROM MAJOR CITIES

  • Ranikhet can be reached by car from major cities in the region such as Delhi and Dehradun.
  • Other major cities such as Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, and Bangalore may use additional transportation if necessary. 
  • The nearest airport is Pantnagar, about 110 miles from Ranikhet. Kathgodam, about 70 kilometers from here, has a train station with good connections to the city. 

  

THINGS TO DO IN RANIKHET

  1. Visiting Temples – Tourists from all over the world visit these temples with unique architectural and religious features such as Jhula Devi Temple, Kali Devi Temple, and Hydkhan Babaji Temple.
  2. Trekking and Hiking – There are several routes in the area, some of which are highly recommended, From Chaubatia to Dwarahat and Binsar Mahadev Trek.
  3.  Golf – Ranikhet Golf Course is one of the best golf courses in Asia.
  4. Sightseeing – Go sightseeing out in nature for a better experience. Tourism – Known for its natural beauty and historic sites. Along with Military Golf Course and Kumaon Regimental Center Museum, Mankameshwar Temple is a popular attraction. Camping – Ranikhet has several sites that offer suitable conditions for camping in the surrounding countryside.

Jim Corbett National Park

Tigers and elephants can be seen at Ranikhet, about 90 kilometers from the reserve, and wildlife can be seen binary. It is a beautiful hill station famous for its dense green forests and spectacular views of the Himalayas. Binsar Nature Reserve, about 60 km from Ranikhet, is another place you can see.

We booked a tour for Jim Corbett in Uttarakhand from Banzara travels last month.Hotel and safari was very good. The guide of our jeep was very good person and the hospitality of the hotel manager and boys were also very good. We satisfy with their service.
