Dhikala Tourism Zone – Jim Corbett National Park

The most famous & picturesque zone with the highest probability of a Tiger sighting is how we would describe the Dhikala Zone in Jim Corbett. Dhikala is the biggest tourism Zone in the entire Corbett Park.

Dhikala has the largest population of wild animals such as tigers, elephants, deer, wild boars, oaters & crocodiles.

Dhangarhi gate is the entry gate for Dhikala Zone of Corbett National Park. The area is quite big and has 5 different Rest Houses as well.

Sultan FRH is situated at 5kms, Gairal is about 13 km & Sarpduli is located at 18 km from the entry gate.

The Fourth one is Khinnanauli FRH and it is 27kms from the main gate.

Situated at 32 km from Dhangarhi gate, Dhikala FRH is the most in-demand guest house in the Zone.

Dhikala remains open from 15 Nov to 15 June every year. The famous places to visit are High Bank, Crocodile Point, Sambhar Road, Grassland, Thandi Sarak & Kamarpatta Road.

Look out for some famous tigers named Paaro, pedwali, Grasslandwali, Choohapani female, Sambha etc while exploring Dhikala.

 

Dhikala Forest Rest House

 

Dhikala FRH

Located 32 km from Dhangarhi gate, Dhikala FRH is the biggest guest house.

There are 02 types of accommodations – Double Rooms & Dormitory Beds. A total of 30 Rooms are present along with 24 Dormitory Beds.

There are 7  categories of rooms in Dhikala FRH.

  • Hutment – 06
  • Cabin – 06 (03 reserved for VIPs)
  • New FRH – 04
  • Annexe – 07
  • Old FRH – 05 (Reserved for VIPs)
  • Old Range Quarters – 02
  • Log Huts – 24 Dormitory Beds (12 reserved for VIPs)

 

Amenities in Dhikala FRH

01 Riverside Restaurant is available there for all the meals along with 01 Small canteens for staff only. In the canteen, tourists can have tea, Maggi, omelette and other basic stuff only and not the proper meals.

Proper electricity is available 24 hrs along with water coolers in some of the rooms. Cellular (Jio/BSNL) networks are rarely available.

Rooms are equipped with attached western washrooms, and hot & cold running water is available all the time. The FRH is situated just adjacent to the river Ramganga which makes the stay at this place a dream come true.
One Amphi theatre is also available as well. Wildlife documentaries are being telecasted every evening.

The place also has a wildlife library available there.

Earlier elephant safaris were also available, which is now prohibited in the entire park.
Room service is also available but only for early morning tea and coffee. Rest all the meals have to be taken at the restaurant only.

The best part about the Dhikala FRH is that it is situated right next to the main Grassland and Sambhar Road which possess the highest possible chances of tiger sightings in the entire Dhikala region.

It’s a common saying there Although getting the booking is a bit hard but sighting a tiger is not that hard at all. The chances of seeing a tiger are almost 100% if you stay in Dhikala FRH for 2 or 3 nights.

Sultan FRH

The Sultan FRH is situated at a distance of just 5 km from the main Dhangarhi Gate. It has only 02 rooms which are powered by Solar panels. You will get Charging points for your phones and Cameras, along with the lights in the room and the washrooms.

Hot and cold running water will be provided through Solar geysers.

Canteen n is not available at the Sultan FRH, one has to bring their raw food, a cook will cook or else you can self cook if you wish. This FRH is ideal for romantic couples who wish to have a candlelight dinner in the middle of the forest as it is quite an isolated FRH with only 2 rooms available in the whole forest rest house.

 

Gairal FRH

The Gairal FRH is situated 13kms from Dhangarhi gate. It is located exactly on the edge of River Ramganga. Electricity is being provided from the Solar Panels only. Hot and cold running water is available at the FRH.

This FRH has a small canteen where you can have all 3 meals.

There are 02 types of accomodation over there, one is double Rooms and the other one is Dormitory Beds.
03 different Room categories are available.

  • 04 New FRH
  • 02 Old FRH (reserved for VIPs)
  • 08 Dormitory Beds with 02 toilets and 02 bathrooms (this room can be used as an 8 bedded family room if you book all the 08 beds)

The place has a beautiful riverside lawn and the night sky looks damn beautiful from the Gairal FRH.

The interesting fact about Gairal is- The entire area generally does not get any mobile network but there is a tiny box drawn on the canteen slab which somehow receives some network.

Gairal FRH in Jim Corbett

 Sarpduli FRH

Situated at about 18kms from the entry gate, Sarpduli is best for those who are looking   It is located on the river edge and has 03 different room categories available.

  •  02 New FRH – Small rooms, extra bed not allowed
  • 02 OLD FRH with living area (reserved for VIPs)
  •  03 bedded dormitory with a western washroom outside the room. No Cellular signals are available at the place & electricity is being provided by Solar panels here. Hot and cold running water is available. It has one canteen as well which serves all the 03 meals of the day.

Sarpduli FRH has a canteen where you can have all your meals. If you are looking for a more lavish meal then Dhikala FRH canteen is a better place & you can have your breakfast and lunch there during your safari.

The FRH is very calm & cosy and one can enjoy the candlelight dinners on the lawn if they want.

 

Khinnanauli FRH

You must be VVIP to get this one. This FRH is strictly available only for top-notch VVIPs. The politicians, judges and celebrities can stay in this rest house.

This one is a 03 Rooms bungalow with a lawn n outside sitting area. Super spacious rooms with basic amenities. Electricity is being provided by Solar panels.

The FRH is 27 km inside the park from Dhangarhi gate. The cellular signals are pretty weak here. It is a perfect place to sit n relax and hear the songs of the birds.

No canteen is available & one has to carry raw material along with themselves, the cook over there will cook the food or else you can indulge yourself in self-cooking as well.
